CMS reviewers look for: COAs confirming THC limits (delta-9 under 0.3%, total THC under 3mg/serving), third-party lab testing from an accredited laboratory, supply chain traceability (know where it comes from), Farm Bill compliance documentation, and ideally additional quality markers like USDA Organic certification.

- USDA Organic or equivalent quality documentation: What farming standards govern their hemp?
- Third-party COA availability: Can you get current batch COAs before ordering?
- Farm Bill compliance documentation: Do they have a compliance letter on file?
- Batch tracking: Can they trace any product back to a specific batch and farm?
- Supply reliability: What are their lead times? Do they have capacity for your patient volume?
- THC compliance across all products: Both delta-9 and total THC per serving documented?
- State law compliance support: Can they advise on products that comply with your state's hemp laws?

Documentation Your Supplier Must Provide

Can we source CBD from multiple suppliers?
Yes, your implementation plan can include products from multiple qualifying suppliers as long as each product has its own compliant documentation. Managing multiple COAs and documentation sets adds administrative complexity. Starting with a single reliable supplier simplifies your first implementation cycle.
How often do COAs need to be updated?
Every new production batch requires a new COA. When your supplier produces a new batch, they should provide updated COAs. Our COAs are batch-specific and we notify wholesale partners when batch numbers change.
What happens if a batch fails a lab test?
A reputable supplier will not ship a non-compliant batch. We test every batch before shipping. In the unlikely event of a compliance issue, we handle it before the product reaches wholesale partners.
Do we need to list the specific supplier in our CMS implementation plan?
Yes. Your implementation plan should identify your product source and include documentation confirming that source's compliance. Supplier documentation is a core component of the implementation plan review.
How quickly can you fulfill an initial wholesale order?
